Looply - Smart Shipping

Looply autonomous vessel at sea
Prototype
2026Founded in Barcelona

A startup born from the sea of Barcelona, connected to the world. Our ambition: to transform the way we relate to the three-quarters of the world that is the sea.

Looply is set to become the first European startup to revolutionise the industries that interact with the sea — particularly the logistics sector. We will transform short-distance maritime transport through autonomous, 100% sustainable vessels. Our pillars: developing the first electric and hybrid autonomous vehicles, optimising routes with AI-driven software, and helping the sector measure and reduce its carbon footprint.

Autonomous Maritime Vehicle

Small and medium-draft vessels with AI-driven navigation, sensor fusion and autonomous docking; designed from scratch for short-distance coastal and inter-island routes.

Smart Route Platform

Proprietary software integrating real-time oceanographic, meteorological and port data to optimise routes, energy consumption and fleet operations.

Zero-Emission Propulsion

Electric primary propulsion with hybrid alternative. Every sea-mile replacing a truck on the road means measurable CO₂ and NOx reduction on high-density corridors.

A history we're going to transform
19th century

Railways connect continents

Freight by rail revolutionizes trade, cutting weeks of transit to days and enabling industrial-scale commerce.

1933

The articulated truck takes the road

The US and Germany popularize the long-haul trailer. Modern road logistics is born, reshaping last-mile delivery.

1950s – 1970s

The standard container changes everything

Highways expand and the ISO container standardizes intermodal transport globally. Costs drop. Trade explodes.

1970s – 1990s

The era of mega-ships

Giant container ships and cargo ferries dominate international maritime transport, handling billions of tonnes yearly.

Last 40 years

A sector stuck in time

Low digitalization. High pressure to decarbonize with little progress. Infrastructure at its limits. The model is broken.

Now

Looply — The blue drones of the sea

Autonomous short-distance maritime transport. Zero direct emissions, on demand, 30–50% lower cost than conventional cabotage.
